At Oak Naturopathic Clinic, we’re happy to offer direct billing for many insurance providers to make your visit as smooth and convenient as possible. However, it’s important to be aware that not all insurance plans allow for direct billing, and coverage can vary depending on the service provided. If direct billing is unavailable for any reason, patients are required to pay upfront and submit claims themselves.
What You Need to Know About Direct Billing
- Insurance Plan Limitations: Not all extended health benefit plans support direct billing. Some require patients to submit claims manually and pay for services at the time of their visit.
- Service-Specific Restrictions: Certain treatments may not be eligible for direct billing, even if your plan typically covers naturopathic care, massage therapy, or acupuncture. In these cases, you will need to pay upfront and submit your claim manually.
- System or Provider Delays: Technical issues, temporary service unavailability, or delays on the insurer’s end may prevent us from processing direct billing at the time of your visit. If this occurs, payment will be required at the time of service, and you will need to submit your claim manually.
What We Can’t Direct Bill
While we strive to make the process as seamless as possible, please note that we cannot direct bill for:
- Plans that do not allow direct billing: Some insurance providers require you to pay upfront and submit claims manually.
- Services not covered under your plan: Certain treatments or procedures may not be eligible for reimbursement, meaning payment must be made at the time of your appointment.
- Secondary Insurance Claims: If you have multiple insurance plans, you may need to pay upfront and submit claims manually for secondary coverage.

Because every insurance plan is different, we strongly recommend checking with your provider to confirm:
- Whether direct billing is allowed
- What services are covered
- Any deductible or co-pay requirements

If your insurance provider is not listed or if you experience any billing challenges, you will be required to pay upfront and submit your claim manually.
